Newton's fifth-year contract option was picked up by the Panthers on Thursday, CBS Sports reports.

Analysis: Newton's contract decision will keep him in Carolina through at least the 2015 season, when his salary will increase from his rookie deal's average of $5.5 million per year to over $14 million. Last season, Newton made his first playoff appearance as a third-year player, accounting for a career-best 24 passing touchdowns and six on the ground. Now coming off a March ankle procedure, Newton is expected to miss the Panthers' offseason workouts, but be ready for training camp with the comfort of a big pay day on the horizon.

Bradshaw reports continued progress with his recovery from a neck procedure, the Indianapolis Star reports. "I'm six months after surgery. I feel great," Bradshaw noted this week. "Getting stronger."

Analysis: Meanwhile, Bradshaw, who is recovering from a procedure in which doctors fused two vertebrae in his neck, reports no setbacks with his bothersome foot, noting that he is currently focused on getting his "neck stronger and getting ready for the contact." Assuming a full recovery, Bradshaw would be in line to compete with Trent Richardson and Vick Ballard for carries in the Colts' 2014 backfield.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt indicated that while Locker (foot) is doing well and has started to jog lightly, the quarterback isn't expected to do much on the field during the Titans' upcoming minicamp.

Analysis: Previous reports suggested that Locker, who is bouncing back from right foot surgery, is gearing up to take part in the Titans' organized team activities in June. Assuming no setbacks, he's on track to reprise his duties as the team's starting QB this coming season, while helming an offense that no longer includes wideout Kenny Britt or running back Chris Johnson.

Maclin relayed to CSN's Geoff Mosher that he believes he is fully recovered from the knee injury he suffered last July.

Analysis: Maclin -- who is bouncing back from a torn right ACL -- suggests that he'd be full-go if it was training already. That said, he isn't sure what the Eagles will have him do at OTAs, though he does expect to participate in some drills. Assuming no setbacks, Maclin has an opportunity to emerge as the Eagles' top wideout this coming season, with DeSean Jackson no longer in the mix.
